At the Lighthouse we are all about
“The Main Thing”.

What does that mean?

Most of us have heard this phrase before:
“the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.”
It’s simple, memorable, and helpful… unless we’re not sure what the main thing is in the first place...  Then we’re in trouble.

How would you respond if you were asked to identify what the main thing in the Bible is?  Is it simply “love?”  Is it “treat others the way you want to be treated?”  Is it “make sure that your good deeds outweigh your bad deeds?” …How can we know?

Thankfully, there is an easy corrective.  All we need to do is seek the answer in God’s Word, His direct communication to us --the Bible.  Even better, the Bible makes it very clear what the main thing is:

1 Corinthians 15:1-6 Says,
“1 Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.  3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas (Peter), and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.”

  • Jesus Christ died.
  • He died for our sins.
  • He was buried.
  • He rose again.
  • There are many witnesses to His resurrection.
  • If you receive these things as true and take your stand on them, holding firmly to them, you are saved.
  • If you don’t, you are not.

This is the Main Thing.

Are you keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing?
